Friday 26 May 2023 Eco Council @Saffron Book Yesterday the Eco-council continued their quest for the Green Flag Award at Saffron acres, learning about bees, making seed bombs and catching newts amongst other things.

Thursday 25 May 2023 Year 11 v Year 10 Football Match Yesterday we held our annual end of year match between Year 10 & 11 students, it is always a fantastic afternoon!

Wednesday 24 May 2023 Year 7 Transition Event We continue to make strong links with next year’s year 7. On Tuesday 23 May we invited students and their families to another community event This time a sporting event, involving football, rounders, cricket and an assault course.

Friday 12 May 2023 Year 11 Prom Last night, Lancaster Academy held our second Prom. Our Year 11 students had a wonderful night celebrating the start of their exams and the end of their journey at Lancaster.

Thursday 4 May 2023 Year 8 READY DAY Year 8 Students have worked hard all day to create a 'Rubbish Performance' from costumes, background, masks & dialogue, accumulating in a performance. It has been great for students to experience each aspect of performing.

Thursday 4 May 2023 Year 7 Ready Day Year 7 students went on a trip to the Botanic Gardens was full of different activities including visiting Desert, tropical rainforest and temperate glass houses looking at cactuses and examples of plant adaptations.

Thursday 4 May 2023 Year 10 Ready Day Workshops covering the uniformed services, such as the police and the RAF, to the world of engineering with the Nylacast team, to getting a better understanding about the differences between employment and being self-employed from Rosie at the LLEP, our students got fully involved with all of the activities our visitors presented to them.

Thursday 4 May 2023 Year 9 Ready Day Year 9 students went to the Leicester Tigers Mattioli woods Stadium today for our careers ready day!

Thursday 4 May 2023 Year 11 Ready Day Students investigated the possibilities available to them for going into volunteering, considering how their hobbies and interests could be used as vehicles for getting involved in the wider community.

Wednesday 8 March 2023 Library Visit! For World Book Day last week, we took 90 students throughout the day to Aylestone library where students received a library card, we listened to book recommendations, and had an opportunity to browse and borrow books. These students now have access to 1000s of books at libraries across Leicester, along with a catalogue of audio and e-books online! If you're interested in joining Leicester libraries, please see Miss Eatwell or Miss Woodhead for information on how to get your own library card.

Tuesday 7 March 2023 Year 7 READY DAY Students in year 7 learnt about Sustainability in Architectural design and engineering. They went through a design process with biomimicry being the main influence in their work. They learnt about the different careers involved within architectural design, how to work within a team, being a good team player, leader and communicator and how to creatively develop ideas.

Wednesday 15 February 2023 Careers LRI Visit Today 20 students from year 9 and 11 visited the LRI to attend a Careers in Medicine event. They learnt about radiology and how to identify irregularities on scans and about different career pathways that could take them into a variety aspects of medicine. they also took part in practical sessions led by NHS professionals including CPR, blood pressure, detecting heart problem with a stethoscope and examining ears and eyes. They also got to try out a machine that is used to train people to undertake endoscopies and heart surgery. they thoroughly enjoyed and most of them want to pursue a career in medicine.

Wednesday 25 January 2023 Year 7 READY Day! The Year 7s started their READY day with a digital literacy workshop which included a tricky Fake news challenge that even the teachers struggled with. External speakers then spoke to the students about anti-violence and weapons before students embarked upon an afternoon of team building and learning soft employability skills through sport. The day finished with students seeing what kind of animal they were in the career personality test. There a few clownfish about!

Wednesday 25 January 2023 Year 11 READY Day! READY day for Y11s – how do I approach the job selection process? For our year 11s today, it was about broadening their education into what processes can be involved when applying for employment, training and further studies.

Wednesday 25 January 2023 Year 10 READY Day! Year 10 students at @SMBCollegeGroup , making positive future choices for their college applications. Well done they were engaged, asked relevant questions linking to Employability.

Wednesday 25 January 2023 Year 8 READY Day! Year 8s today took part in the interior design challenge. They made models for a new office space/careers hub from scratch including the electronics! Thank you Blueprint Interiors for coming in & helping with their designs.

Wednesday 25 January 2023 Year 9 READY Day! Year 9 students had the pleasure to carry on working with 8Billionideas. The aim of the day was for them to design and build a board game. They then had to pitch their ideas to their forms and the winners all took part in a live broadcast where their ideas were judged by the 8Billionideas team.

Wednesday 14 December 2022 Sports Leaders visit to Avenue Primary Yesterday, three of our sports leaders went to Avenue Primary School to lead some PE lessons. They led a fantastic Hockey and Netball session which were enjoyed by the Year 5/6 students. We look forward to returning after Christmas.

Friday 11 November 2022 Remembrance Day 2022 All week we have had Remembrance assemblies where year groups have commemorated the Armistice and learnt about the importance of the act of remembrance.

Wednesday 9 November 2022 Student Council Primary Visit Today we have had 8 different Primary schools visit us at Lancaster for a Student Voice event.

Wednesday 2 November 2022 Year 7 READY Day Activities Lancaster Academy Year 7 students designed a ‘Happy Place’ whilst thinking about the jobs that architects, landscapers, textile designers and interior designers do.

Wednesday 2 November 2022 Year 10 READY Day Trips Some of our yr10 students attended an enjoyable trip to Warwick Castle where they took part in a KS4 Normans workshop and looked at the career of leading workshops and providing education and an enjoyable experience to visitors. Students also had the opportunity to look at careers in wildlife during the bird show

Wednesday 2 November 2022 Year 8 READY Day Activities Year 8 took part in the HSBC Young Money Challenge for the day. All sorts of relevant topics were covered from understanding payment methods and how to save money to avoiding debt and how to become a millionaire!

Wednesday 2 November 2022 Year 11 READY Day Activities Getting ready for the future is what we’re about and the year 11s – our students who are close to moving on to the next stage in the path towards adulthood experienced a range of activities today designed to build their life and employability skills. Having been presented with a lot of information from our local colleges, Gateway and NWSLC, our students then received more insight into how they can go about organising themselves for when their mock and real exams take place, by looking at revision and planning techniques.

Wednesday 2 November 2022 Year 9 READY Day Activities Today a group of 30 year 9 students spent the day learning about careers and opportunities in Health and Social Care. To start the day we had a visitor, Jenny, from 'Inspired to care' who talked to them about the range of roles available in the sector, the skills and values needed to work there and the qualification alternative routes they could take to get to their career choice.
